Description
This two-course series explores the technologically challenging area of critical care paramedicine. Graduate paramedics can increase their skills and knowledge related to the care of cardiac, pulmonary, traumatic, and other medical patients. Students will learn advanced diagnostics, invasive monitoring, and advanced pharmacology. These skills are essential as a critical care paramedic.

Career Opportunities
Critical care paramedics (CCP) are providing care for patients in rural ED / ICUs who need transferred to urban high level medical facilities. Patients also come from the 911 system. These 911 patients tend to be of higher acuity than the 911 system can manage. CCPs can work on ground or air-based ambulances. Systems that employee CCPs are typically accredited. These accrediting bodies require employed CCPs demonstrate current knowledge through certification testing. The information presented within EMS 2300 and EMS 2305 prepares the student for this certification.
