Students learn advanced applications in geographical information system software, ArcGIS; programming skills; how to design and implement websites; design and administer relational databases;  query databases using SQL.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this degree will be able to build upon already existing programming skills to find employment in government  and within private industry employing computer programmers with general GIS skills and knowledge such as: Database Developer or Software Applications Programmer.  According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (www.bls.gov). As a result of rapid employment growth over the 2008 to 2018 decade, job prospects for computer software engineers should be excellent.
